Wrecking the Whirlwind
The beach was the last place any sane person should be during the hurricane, with zaps of lightening forking the sand and a raging ocean pounding the shore.
Yet the two soaked heroes out there were clearly the opposite of sane, engaging in an impossible battle amongst swirling debris.
Aiming at a traffic post, Shouto incinerated the missile hurtling towards Izuku, reducing it to ashes.
Said man did not notice the save, Izuku was channeling All-For-One to his hands, spinning those arms around like fan blades, in attempt to reduce the wind speed of the Hurricane with his Quirk.
That super cyclone had battered every uninhabited island in its path, leaving a trail of uprooted trees and floods before heading to Shizuoka. Hence Izuku and Shouto needed to stop the cyclone from unleashing its fury on their country.
Angry waves smashed the shore, lashing Izuku's face as if punishing him for daring to fight nature. Ignoring the stinging, Izuku focused on breaking the band of black clouds apart but a sliver of doubt soon entered his mind.
Is this really working? Izuku had been at this for a while, yet the storm was anything but tempered. Perhaps he did not have what it took to really stop this force of nature.
Exhaustion caught up with Izuku next, throwing him off balance until two hands wrapped around Izuku's torso, preventing Izuku from falling.
"I got you." Shouto's voice was barely audible against the howling wind and thunder."You can do this!"
In that moment, Izuku remembered there was a time when Shouto used to plead for Izuku to not overuse Izuku's Quirk, out of worry for Izuku's hands.
However, Shouto no longer did so, Shouto trusted Izuku to use his Quirk without hurting himself, Shouto trusted in Izuku's ability to stop this hurricane. Thus Izuku refused to let his country or his partner down by giving up.
Eyes gleaming, Izuku rode the waves of newfound adrenaline, pouring everything into his next move.
He clapped and the resulting force of the clap, ripped a massive hole in the clouds, revealing a blue patch of sky.
Panting, Izuku sagged against Shouto who held him tight, planting a celebratory kiss on the forehead."You did this Izuku, you stopped the cyclone."
"We did this." Izuku corrected.
"I did not do anything," Shouto said in a matter-of-fact tone.
Despite how drained Izuku felt, Izuku refused to let Shouto deny Shouto's role in defeating the hurricane. Shifting to face Shouto, he held Shouto's gaze."No, you had my back like always."
"You believed in me when I didn't believe in myself." Izuku gave his a partner a warm smile.
And apparently the entirety of Japan agreed with the sentiment for Izuku and Shouto respectively became the Number One and Number Two Heroes that day.
The End
