A Laugh and a Half
Over springy rice cakes and roasted barley tea, Fuyumi and Shouto watched a family sitcom in the dining room.
The two had started this tradition a while back, tuning into any comedy that aired on Saturday afternoon.
Fuyumi let out a chuckle when the kid on screen proudly served his family, a charred pot roast for dinner. "How cute."
That comment earned her a quizzical look from Shouto who lifted a red brow in question.
"He just wanted to do something nice for his family, I thought it was sweet of him to try cooking for everyone." Fuyumi explained her take on the cooking disaster.
Truth be told, Fuyumi saw a little of herself in the kid, having failed her early attempts at cooking for her family; thankfully her skills had improved since then, leading her to easily prepare everyone's favourite dishes now.
"I see." Tilting his head downward, Shouto stared at the rice cakes on his plate before picking one up for a careful bite.
No further words were spoken for the remainder of the episode, though Fuyumi laughed from time to time at all the gags.
"Say Fuyumi," Shouto began, as the ending credits appeared on screen.
Turning to face him, Fuyumi met her brother's eyes. "What's up, Shouto?"
"Can you teach me how to cook?" He asked, curling his fingers around the sides of his tray.
"I want to help out since you are the only one making the meals around here and you do so much for us already."
Behind rimmed glasses, Fuyumi's eyes widened, then misted up at her brother's sweet gesture and kind words which warmed her heart more any family sitcom could. "Of course, I'd love to teach you!" She cried.
